Apologetics - Chinese Culture
This
book doesn't fit anywhere into the other sections, but it's such
a phenomenal resource that we had to mention it. Many Chinese
are closed to the gospel because they see Christianity as a
Western religion, one that requires them to give up their
Chinese identity and heritage. In reality, the ancient Chinese
worshiped Shang Di (pronounced song-dee), who unbeknownst to
most Chinese, is the God of the Bible. Looking at ancient
Chinese histories, the pictographic meaning of ancient Chinese
characters, ancient Chinese religious sites and practices, this
book argues that the ancient worship of Sang Di predated the
worship of ancestors and lesser gods, and therefore, acceptance
of the gospel is not a betrayal of their culture but a return to
The Faith of Our Fathers. This book is not available
through traditional outlets and can only be ordered through

Apologetics -
Historical Evidences
The
New Evidence That Demands a Verdict. By Josh McDowell. A
classic compilation of the best evidences for the historic
reliability of the Bible, packed into a single volume. An
indispensable resource for anyone looking for hard facts to use
in the defense of historic and orthodox Christianity.
The Case for Christ: A Journalist's Personal Investigation of
the Evidence for Jesus. By Lee Stroebel. An easy-to-read,
but fact-packed book that will appeal to the less academically
minded without sacrificing content. Lee Stroebel, a former
reporter on the criminal beat for the Chicago Tribune, uses the
standards of evidence used in our nation's courtrooms to "try"
the claims of Jesus of Nazareth while keeping the reader's
interest by interweaving stories from his criminal reporting
days. This is simply one of the best introductory apologetics
books on the market.
The
Historical Jesus: Ancient Evidence for the Life of Christ.
By Gary Habermas. It's one thing to look through today's lens at
the life of Christ. It's quite another to look at what people in
the first, second, and third centuries were saying. Historian
Gary Habermas looks at ancient evidence -- primarily secular
evidence -- for the life of Christ and how it lines up with the
gospel accounts. Proofs that are very difficult to refute.
The Historic Reliability of the Gospels. By Craig Blomberg. A
great and comprehensive introduction to the reliability of the
gospel texts.
Who Moved the Stone? By Frank Morison. Considered by many
to be a classic apologetic on the subject of the Resurrection.
Morison includes a vivid and poignant account of Christ's
betrayal, trial, and death as a backdrop to his retelling of the
climactic Resurrection itself.
Apologetics - King James Only/Translations
The
Facts on the King James Only Debate. By John Ankerberg. One
of the issue often brought out during discussions with skeptics
is the differences between Bible versions. Not only does this
little, inexpensive book address the King James Only debate
within the Church today, but it also explains the basic issues
all translations face and provides believers with an answer to
challenge about differences between all Bible versions. A "must"
for anyone interested in apologetics.
Apologetics - The Dead Sea Scrolls
The Dead Sea Scrolls Today. By James VanderKam. Many
skeptics have used the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls as a
tool to attempt to dismantle the historic reliability of the
scriptures, pointing out discrepancies between these early
documents and our scripture today. What exactly are the Dead Sea
Scrolls? What do they say? And how do they relate to the
authority of our scriptures? There are many books on this
subject, but this is a highly readable book that cover the major
issues that Christians need to know. A great, fact-packed, but
highly readable introduction to this issue.
Apologetics - Cults & World Religions
The
Kingdom of the Cults. By Walter Martin. Christians are often
asked about other religions. How can we know that Christianity
is the only true faith? When we look at the historical roots of
the world's religions, they can't even begin to compare to
Christianity. This book provide a concise, yet in-depth look at
the historical roots and teachings of the major religions of the
world, as well as Christian cults, and how they compare to
orthodox Christian teachings. Essential reading and resource
book for any student of apologetics.
Apologetics - Scientific Evidences
The Creator and the Cosmos. By Dr. Hugh Ross. The young
earth/old earth creation debate is as hot as the rapture debate,
but one fact is undeniable: the average unbeliever holds to the
traditional scientific views about the formation of the
universe. Using traditional science, Dr. Hugh Ross makes a
powerful case for intelligent design of the universe by the God
of the Bible. This book, which is based on the most recent
scientific evidences as well as classic ones, is an
indispensable resource for those seeking to reach skeptics --
particularly those steeped in academia -- with the authority of
scripture. Dr. Hugh Ross holds both to the inerrancy of
scripture and the scientific record.
The
Genesis Question. By Dr. Hugh Ross. Like The Creator and
the Cosmos, The Genesis Question defends the creation
of the universe from a biblical old-earth perspective but
focusing more tightly in on the creation of the earth itself as
described in Genesis. Once again, Dr. Ross shows how the most
recent mainstream scientific discoveries continue to confirm
that the earth was formed by an "intelligent agent," and of all
of the gods of the world religions, the only candidate is the
God of the Bible.
Apologetics - Creation vs. Evolution
Icons of Evolution, by Jonathan Wells.
Christians will not be surprised to know that the evidence for
evolution is weak, but most of us assume that, at least the
scientific experiments and examples given in high school and
university textbooks are accurate. In fact, most if not all of
the "icons of evolution" included in textbooks are inaccurate,
based outdated information, exaggerated, or in some cases, are
well-known distortions or outright fakes. This is a very
important book that describes experiments well known to us all
that are presented as the best evidence evolution has to offer,
and yet, in every case, are well-known distortions or fakes.
An absolute must-read for Christians.
Case for a Creator. By Lee Stroebel.
Interviewing some of the most well-respected scientists of our
time, Stroebel takes on the issue of the evidence for a creator,
just as he did the evidence for the historical reliability of
the gospels. Excellent cross-section of scientists covers a wide
variety of disciplines.
Darwin's Black Box. By Michael Behe. The challenge to
macro-evolution starts as early as the formation of the cell.
Behe, a biochemist, shows how the fundamental building blocks of
life are based on irreducible systems -- in other words, so
complex and interdependent that they cannot have evolved. They
must have come into existence as fully formed systems.
Darwin on Trial. By Philip Johnson. The assumption by the
average person is that macro-evolution is accepted mainstream
science. In fact, it's a theory -- and one that flourishes in
spite of the fact that the overwhelming preponderance of
mainstream scientific evidence, from all disciplines, is against
it. This is a fact of which the evolutionary community is
painfully aware, and if it could find an alternate theory (other
than creation) to explain the evidence, it would. In this book,
respected legal textbook writer Philip Johnson puts Darwinian
evolution "on trial" using top evolutionists own words,
arguments, and admissions.
Creation and Evolution. By Alan Hayward. Although this is
an older book, it's an easy reading introduction to the
creation-evolution debate, with the kind of timeless example
that never go out of date. The concepts applied here transfer
well to a wide range of discussions and are easy to remember.
Terrific primer written for all reading levels.
