I've been meaning to delve into some of the Old
Testament prophecies regarding the end times. Because the
mystery of the Church and the rapture were not revealed until
after the ascension of Christ, we will not find direct evidence
for the rapture in the Old Testament directly. However, because
the rapture occurs during the time frame called "Daniel's 70th
Week," and because the Old Testament (especially Daniel) is
replete with references to the 70th Week, we can learn a lot
about this time period, and thereby indirectly about the timing
and purpose of the rapture, by studying these books.
I was having some trouble getting around to the
book of Daniel, however, until a friend of mine, Rich Deem, gave
me the opportunity to write on a prophecy-related subject for
his website, Evidence for God from Science. This is a terrific
apologetics website for those looking for hard, scientific proof
of the God of the Bible and the Bible as the inspired Word of
God. Rich, himself, is a scientist — a microbioloist and
research scientist— and is a volunteer apologist for the
organization Reasons to Believe, which is dedicated full-time to
this effort.
Because the
Evidence for God from
Science website gets a lot of traffic from Jewish
nonbelievers, Rich asked that I write something from the Old
Testament. This was just the excuse I needed.
This month, instead of posting my column here,
please click on this link to go directly to the page on Evidence
for God from Science where this Talkin' Rapture column is
posted. Once you are finished, I enourage you to stick around.
Poke around the site. It will keep your mind busy for a long,
long time.
