A House Divided, by Michael Johnson
In A House Divided, author Michael
Johnson's goal is a worthy one -- to encourage believers to
prepare for the persecution and trial they will endure if they
are in the generation that will enter the 70th Week. His
position falls under the umbrella of "posttribulation/prewrath."
Although his goal is worthy, and his desire is to
lift up the name of Christ and encourage His people, the author
uses very loose methods of biblical interpretation, rejecting
traditional methods of exegesis and relying on apparent
similarities and claims to divine inspiration to come to his
conclusions. Devout students of scripture will be disturbed by
many well-meaning but off-the-wall attempts to explain
challenging passages of scripture.
Equally disturbing, the author believes he has
been given this interpretation directly from God, with a divine
mandate to write it down for His people, so apparent
contradictions or problems in his interpretation are overlooked.
This book is self-published, so the problems are
compounded by an emotional and unpolished writing style. Rather
than supporting his beliefs with scripture, he goes to great
lengths to document his beliefs, but without presenting
substantial evidence of his reasoning or scriptural support.
This is a book from the author's heart to the page that details
his personal beliefs about the end times, but is not a
well-researched or well-reasoned defense of his view.
Purchase this book if you want to keep up on what
end-times materials are being published today, but if you are a
student of the end times, looking for aids in understanding the
complexities of end-times prophecy and unraveling the
controversy surrounding the timing of the rapture, this book is
not for you.
This book is not available from Amazon.com, but
is available from Armageddon Books.
