It is true
that Jesus came for the lost sheep of Israel, but His teachings
throughout the gospels are fundamental to church doctrine today.
If we are going to throw out the Olivet Discourse as for the
Jews only, we must throw out the rest of the gospels, as well.
Also keep in mind that the Jews to whom Jesus spoke included the
12 disciples who had not rejected Him as Messiah, as the rest of
Israel did. These disciples became the root of the New Testament
church. When Jesus gave the Olivet Discourse, He was answering
their question, “When are you coming back?” He wasn't speaking
to unbelieving Israel. He was speaking to believers.
